"An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind."- Gandhi
Finally! After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, I finally received my student loan, and yesterday I went to pick up my newest piece of equipment - the Canon 50D.
This thing is just nuts. I'm having a blast messing around with it so far. The only drawback I find (which isn't even really a problem unless you're just lazy) with it is that on Liveview mode, it doesn't auto-focus. They pretty much built that in to work with tripod-steady shots, so you don't have to squint and struggle looking through the viewfinder.
You have no idea how annoying it is sometimes trying to look professional with a Powershot G9, which is basically a high powered point-and-shoot. It's good as a carry-on, but it's not your main weapon. That, and I've had a lot of pressure from school to get a digital SLR ever since this semester started. Moreover, I'm just relieved I have one now. I can finally get down to some serious work.
I had originally settled on the 40D, but figured I should just invest a little more money into the 50D instead. Better in the long run, I believe.
Expect to see some new deviations here in the next couple days after I start working with this beast.

I'm loving it so far, especially the internal self-cleaning that comes on automatically and just the sheer speed of the lens.
I'm used to working with slower cameras.
